PARENT CONSULTATIONS FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS WHO STUTTER
The customized parent coaching session helped us learn how we can help our [3-year-old] daughter in our day to day lives. We have seen so much improvement and are so happy we got the chance to work with Allison. Thank you!!” --K.P., After 1 Virtual Parent Coaching Session
WHAT IS PARENT COACHING/PARENT CONSULTATION?
When a pre-school aged child begins to experience bumps in their speech, many parents are at a loss. Questions arise, such as: Does this mean my child stutters or is it "developmental?" Does this warrant an evaluation by a speech therapist or should we wait and see? Try a google search and you'll be met with conflicting information and even more questions: Should you address moments of stuttering by naming it? Should you modify your own speaking? How do you set your child up for success?
Our parent consultation will feel like a calming, deep breath as you learn the answers to your questions and formulate an action plan.
We'll meet one-on-one to discuss your child and your questions. We will start with some basic education about what stuttering is and is not. We will determine whether your child is exhibiting signs of stuttering. We will discuss other particular components of your child's case and answer your questions along the way. I will then provide you with some indirect strategies you can implement at home to support your child's speech and communication environment. Lastly, we'll discuss your options so that you know exactly which step to take next .

When you schedule a parent coaching session, you receive:
- 60-90 minutes of personalized, one-on-one guidance (via video session)
- Techniques selected based your personal case
- Pertinent handouts and documents emailed to you for future reference
- A follow-up by email to touch base
The one thing I really took away from our meeting was the idea of slowing down [my own] speech and conversation and allowing those little pauses in between clauses/phrases. S almost immediately responded to it and her speech became incredibly smooth - so much so I took a celebratory video that I intended to send to you." -J. After 1 Virtual Parent Coaching Session
